A Magazine called How About Now

For a generation that cares

The WorthWhile Future Foundation is a non-profit working at the intersection of sustainability and finance. They knew that they wanted to create a print magazine that would spark hope for a young, often-jaded generation of Indians who are already well aware of the problems we are currently faced with, but don’t always know what to actually do about it. The idea was to introduce the concept of responsible investing and how it can make a difference. The brand approached The Paper Planes Agency to figure out what this magazine would be. Together, we conceptualised a three-part print magazine called How About Now. Comprising short stories, in-depth features, long interviews, photo essays, infographics, comics, and more, the launch issue of the magazine, titled ‘Going Electric’, delved deep into the world of electric vehicles.

We also developed the name and brand identity of the magazine. Careful attention was paid to the choice of paper and offsetting carbon emissions — the magazine is printed on 100% recycled paper, and is carbon-neutral.

Comics like this one by Kaveri Gopalakrishnan put into perspective how the switch to electric mobility can be emotional too.

Photography played a key role in the editorial storytellling — this photoshoot, styled by Priyanka Shah, brought to life Ather Energy’s cutting-edge design for electric vehicles.

Staying on theme, we commissioned design studio November, led by type designers Shiva Nallaperumal and Juhi Vishnani, to design a bumper sticker for EVs.

Layout design and data visualisation — along with a cultural approach to the topic — played an important role in distilling the information provided in this finance magazine.

A three-part print magazine series to inquire and deliberate — sometimes ruefully — about the things that really matter, with folks who work relentlessly to make the world a better place.
